Nationwide Fire Sprinklers recently carried out
an interesting project we completed in the
Lincolnshire area was on a five storey windmill
conversion where the owner wanted the stairwell open
plan to all floor levels as it wound its way up the
building. With the agreement of the Building Control Officer we installed sprinklers to the entire building powered by one of our own fire pumps. The ground floor staircase is open plan to a first floor landing and gallery area which leads into the stairwell spiralling up through the remaining top four floors with an open plan viewing room at the top of the building. |
| There are no fire lobbies or doors anywhere on
any of the stairwells and with our hydraulically
designed sprinkler layout the Building Control
Officer considered our compensatory measure of
installing a sprinkler system to be in excess of the
requirements of part B of the regulations and so
gave his consent to this proposal.
The owner now has a fabulous home with pleasing views inside and out and is delighted with our help, advice and our sprinkler system. |
