On 16 February 2011, Wales made history by becoming the first country in the world to pass legislation meaning Fire Sprinklers will be compulsory in all new homes.

The law will apply to all newly built houses as well as care homes and halls of residence in universities.

The law was passed unanimously by a vote of the National Assembly  for Wales and will undoubtedly save lives.
