Partial sprinkler systems using a 'pump and
tank' arrangement can often be used
where the installation only requires a small number
of rooms to be protected but need a sustained water
flow for a fixed duration to allow the occupants to
escape.
The most common example of this is usually loft conversions or houses with 2 storeys or less.

Partial systems usually work out to be cheaper than full systems and can still be used without the use of water pump, if the mains water pressure is sufficient. A mains water pressure test will determine this. Often the installation of the pump, pressure vessel and other equipment are under the stairs or in the basement. This not only reduces cost but saves on space and makes a safer environment to work and live in. |
