Partial sprinkler systems can often be used where the installation only requires a small number of rooms to be protected and just the primary root of escape. The most common example of this is usually loft conversions or houses with more than 2 storeys; where the water requires pushing up to the upper storeys that need protecting by fire sprinklers. Water pumps can be required to boost water pressure into the property where the main has a low or intermittent pressure. This usually true of old lead pipes or in hilly areas. A mains water pressure test will determine this. |

Nationwide can help you organise and carry out the type of water pressure test you require, for more information then please contact our engineers. Partial systems can still require the use of water storage tanks if the amount of water required to fight the fire needs to be guaranteed for certain time frame, this is usually advised by your BCO at the time of the planning application. Specification of the tanks required is made during the design phase. |
