Fire Engineering Strategies

What NFS Can Do For You?Here at Nationwide we can develop a fire strategy for any scheme, no matter how large or small. So contact us for free initial guidance on 0800 028 9911.

How The Process Works.  The AHJ (authority having jurisdiction) or BCO (building control officer) on your project may ask you for a fire strategy if they are not satisfied that your proposal makes for a reasonably safe structure with adequate precautions against fire, spread of fire, escape from fire and access to fight a fire.

Larger Projects. Often on larger projects, especially high rise developments the design team will have recognized the benefit and value of developing a fire strategy from the inception of the project.

Although expensive to produce on a large scheme a strategy can bring value for money by providing more economical solutions to individual site situations.

The Smaller Project. On smaller projects particularly on single dwellings a fire strategy will be relatively expensive and should be regarded as a last resort. For smaller schemes most clients find it better to seek the advice of the AHJ/BCO and negotiate a mutually satisfactory proposal to comply with part b or to implement a satisfactory compensatory measure. Nationwide can help negotiate this as part of our project management service.
