Where the mains water pressure is either low or erratic in a residential area. In order to maintain a steady flow of water to the sprinkler heads in case of activation a water pump may be necessary. The pump is designed to ensure a sustained rate of water feed to the sprinkler heads. The water pump design will be incorporated into the CAD drawing that will be submitted to the BCO for approval before the job begins. Nationwide Fire Sprinklers incorporates this into its design service to help minimise disruption to the client and ensuring the job installation is completed efficiently As part of its service Nationwide liaises with other contractors to organise the job for you. An example would be the water pump will need to be powered by a mains voltage supply provided on its own circuit breaker. We would liaise with the electrical contractor to make sure the correct type is fitted. |
| . The installation of the pump in the property can be discussed with an architect and other parties to ensure a problem free, convenient installation, usually in a closet to minimise disruption and visual impairment. An example of our work is available in domestic sprinkler case studies Another option on the use of a water pump is to add a water tank; where water may be required to fight the fire for a fixed duration, in this case a storage tank may be used. All these additions will be calculated by the sprinkler engineer as he works to meet the BCO's specifications. |
